First Anniversary

of April's Magical World and her joy for living slow

On Saturday 4th March, 2023, we celebrated the first anniversary of Kizzy Petit author's first children's book, April's Magical World and her joy for living slow.

The event took place at The Bookshop, in East Grinstead, West Sussex. The day was filled with crafty activities to inspire children to play outside in nature, books readings, and the children also got the opportunity to get their books signed by the author!

Kizzy Petit's April's Magical World and her joy for living slow, is an absolute dream come true for her.

In order to achieve this dream, Kizzy Petit states that she practised believing in herself and in her power to create beyond her comprehension.

After writing the series Stories of an Unhurried Childhood in 2018, she ran a successful Kickstarter project in April 2020 (during the Covid lockdown!), and raised more than £5,000 in 30 days, to get the funds to cover the costs of the illustrations of the four story books.

Her first story, April's Magical World and her joy for living slow, was independently published in January of 2022, and launched to the public in February that year. This children's book promotes a childhood in tune with nature and imagination, and inspires not only children, but also parents, to adopt a more mindful approach to life, a slow-paced lifestyle.

Here are some of the reasons why Kizzy Petit is proudly celebrating her first year in the Children's Books Independent Publishing business:

- Because in one year, she has sold 400+ copies by herself, without a publisher! She has been to book fairs, markets, and events, as well as schools, shops, bookstores, and more!

- Because she has got the book in the British Library, Waterstones, and Blackwells, without an agent or a publisher!

- Because she believes in the power of nature when it comes to raising children, and the benefits of outdoor playing for their overall health. 

- And because this has been such a unique and fun experience, as well as challenging and transformative, in every aspect of life.
